Impact of steroid-eluting implants on healthcare resource use (HCRU) among chronic rhinosinusitis patients undergoing sinus surgery
Challenge
Understanding if the beneficial effects of steroid-eluting sinus implant use during sinus surgery demonstrated in clinical trials can be shown using real-world data.
Solution
Leverage OM1 linked clinical EMR and claims data to better understand the real-world effects of steroid-eluting sinus implant use on short and longer-term HCRU in CRS patients undergoing sinus surgery. Propensity score matching was used to account for differences in CRS disease severity and other pre-surgery characteristics between patients who receive steroid-eluting sinus implants and those who do not.
